I am so frustrated! I am trying to upload pictures for you guys and I can't get it to work. I have spent all day trying to upload. It is trying my patience to wait 2 hours only for page cannot be displayed to pop up! Anyway, I'll keep trying and hopefully the computer will comply with me one of these days.
Here is what we have been doing over the last few days. As usual the boys have been having school in the morning from 9:00-1:00, we eat lunch until 2:00 then they play until 6:00. They have done all kinds of stuff. Their latest venture was a store where they sold rocks and sticks. The big boys, Sam and his buds, had the littles, Alex and his buds, mining for rocks so that they could buy sticks at Sam's shop. Sticks are very important in this culture. Even grown men carry sticks around. It is a tribal thing, mainly Massai. Anyway, the bigs cut down banana leaves and made a lean to around a firewood shed ( sounds a little snakey to me). This lasted about three days and now they have closed up shop. It was causing to many arguments among the littles about whose rock was the most valuable, thus buying the best stick. It is very routine for me and the boys. We will hike around the compound and down to the dam to get some exercise but that is about it. Tomorrow we are hiking to Mt. Montigo. From there we will see for miles - we should get some great pictures.
Brett has been very busy. He is loving it! His most exciting case was a woman who thought she was having twins but instead it was a huge mass. He surgically removed the mass and it weighed over thirty pounds and was bigger than a watermelon. He has also done some other cool cases but I will save those gross details for him to share with all of his doctor friends. He is working alot and feels his skills are needed here.
Next weekend we are scheduled to go on safari. We are going to the Massai Mara game reserve. It is the Kenyan side of the Serenghetti National Park. We have seen the pictures from our friend's safari and we know it will be awesome!
Please be in prayer that God will use us toward His higher purpose and that God would guide the hearts, minds, and souls of those ministering to the patients here at Tenwek. This is a great place the people are so very nice.
